Saw Beer Shark Mice!!!!!!

October 20, 2007

Saw Neil's show last night - thought I'd tell you a bit about it. I headed over to the iO West to get our tickets, which I had bought online at home, and they gave me tickets to the 8:00 show, which I was under the assumption were good for the whole evening. The first group was called 313 and they were very funny! After 313, they cleared the theater because Beer Shark Mice were coming up. (The theater holds about 80 people - nice and small and personal.) Apparently I was supposed to have used my receipt for tickets to Beer Shark Mice only, because they said my ticket wasn't good anymore!!! PANIC!!! I asked if there were still tickets available, and there were. Got in and sat right in the front row off to the side.

I honestly didn't know how I'd react when they came out on stage! lol When they came out, it was Neil, Mike Coleman, Peter Hulne, and another guy I didn't know. Pat Finn and David Koechner weren't there. It was strange - Neil wasn't more than 3 feet away from me, but it still felt like I was watching him on TV. He looked AWESOME - light blue button-up shirt, jeans, and brown leather shoes. Yummy! They asked for a suggestion of a location for their show. I had thought of "jewelry store" but for some reason I got a case of shyness and didn't shout it out. The guy next to me called out 'sushi bar' and they went with that. It was very funny - my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing! There were several times that Neil was RIGHT in front of me!

After the show, Peter came back out and said they were putting on a benefit show on November 15 for one of their friends whose brother has brain cancer. There will be a show from 7-10, and all sorts of merchandise, including "stuff from Scrubs" - not sure what that would be exactly.

I went out to the box office and bought a Beer Shark Mice shirt, and Neil walked right past me. Did I say anything? Of course not. Deonte (not sure of his last name - Turk's stand-in) was there, as well as Joe Foglia (sound mixer for Scrubs) and Chandra Halpern, one of the owners of iO. I bought my shirt, then turned and saw Neil walk out the front door for a smoke. We went outside too. He was right there, right there!! but did I say anything? Of course not again. As we walked past him, my sister said, "Great show, man!" and he said, "Thanks for coming." I smiled at him, but that was it. I'd better do a better job on Monday on set. As we were driving away, I was very quiet and lost in thought and feeling almost down. I'm not sure if it was after-the-event blues, or because I had a chance to talk to Neil and didn't, or what. It just didn't feel right going up to him at that point - I wanted to respect his "private" time, or whatever.
